  • Clemens Boeckenstedt Family.  Clemens is my great-grandfather, born in Germany and emmigrated to the US in 1848 with his parents, sister, and four brothers.  My Grandfather Anton is in the front row, far left.
  • This is a portrait of Katherine Osterhaus Koopmann, my maternal grandmother's family, probably taken about 1908-09.  Other than my great-grandparents Henry and Charlotte Foerster Osterhaus, the only two we are certain about are the two on the far left: Kate Osterhaus Koopmann (dob January 3, 1880) and her brother Mathias (February 15, 1899).

  • Bernard Beckman (back row, right) is the father of my paternal grandmother (or my great-grandfather).  He is pictured here with his siblings, Frank and Clem and (front row, r to l) Joe, Therese Tegler, and George.
  • Clemens Boeckenstedt, b. 1838 in Steinfeld Germany (center) is my paternal grandfather's father, or my great grandfather.  He is pictured here with his brothers, from l to right: Frank, Henry, Arnold, and Anton.
  • April 9, 1907 Wedding Portrait of Agnes Beckman and Anton Boeckenstedt.  Attended by Maime Beckman Boeckenstedt (sister of the bride) and John "Pinoak" Boeckenstedt, brother of the groom.  Usher is Charles Beckman.
  • My paternal grandfather, Anton Boeckenstedt, is shown here, second from left.  His brother, John (aka Pinoak) is second from right, but we can't identify any of the others, or what the occasion might have been.

  • The first of my ancestors to come to the US: Franz Heinrich and Elizabeth (Meyer) Boeckenstedt (sometimes spelled Böckstett, Böckenstedt or Böckerstette or any other number of ways!)  He was born in 1800 and she in 1805; they came to the US in 1848 with five children.
